As a System and Network Security Administrator, you are responsible for planning and instituting security measures to safeguard your company’s computer system, as well as overseeing the seamless operation of the network’s infrastructure and administering company-wide systems.
As an I.T. professional, you will be well-versed in network security and administration, system administration, and infrastructure installation and testing. Your problem-solving and technical skills are highly valued.

Your career can start in just two years. An associate degree in system and network security from Southeast Tech gives you the skills to maintain firewalls, monitor the network for suspicious activity, institute intrusion prevention systems (IPS) and limit unauthorized access. You will also work with Linux and Windows servers; network services such as web, email, DNS, DHCP, RRAS; Active Directory; subnetting; virtualization; VLAN; routing and wireless data communications.
In your career, you will:
- Install firewalls/data encryption programs
- Report on security breaches/extent of damage
- Instruct users on new security products and proper use of hardware or software
- Recommend security upgrades
- Analyze simulation attacks for vulnerabilities
- Optimize system and network performance
- Oversee user access and security permissions
- Troubleshoot system, network or security issues
- Install and maintain Linux and Windows servers
- Install and configure network services such as email, web, DNS, RDP and Active Directory

As an I.T. security technician, you will have a role in your organization’s disaster relief plan as well as preventive measures such as housing data at an offsite location.
